C# Byte vs String vs MemoryStream
I have a ASP.NET Core web api. Which of these 3 methods is better practice:
1) MemoryStream (for file uploads)
2) String (for url, or email etc)
3) Byte (and then How do I convert to a string?)
According to this article, string is actually the fastest.
If a string is used for the body of a request, the server must perform only one operation for each byte of data: check whether the next two characters form a valid UTF-8 sequence and then check whether the sequence is complete. This is usually the most common case for a web application.
Bash script: How to check if a file exists before running a command?
I am running a bash script. How do I check if a file exists before running a command?
I want to check if a file exists, then run a command. If the file does not exist, then do nothing.
This is the function I am using to check if a file exists before running the command.
if [ -f $1 ]; then
echo "File exists"
echo "File does not exist"
I'm not sure what you mean by "the file does not exist", but there's no need for an if statement, since the exit status will be 0 if the file exists and 1 if it doesn't.
-f is for checking if a file exists. You're checking if a file exists before the command, so you need to use $1 or $2.
