Cardiovascular risk factors: Some psychiatric disorders, regardless of whether they are primary or secondary and regardless of whether there is comorbid physical illness, are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. Risk factors for cardiovascular disease include: smoking, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, poor dietary habits, obesity, and sedentary lifestyle. The major risk factors for cardiovascular disease are modifiable (for example, smoking, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, self-reported atherogenic diet, and excessive inactivity), and, therefore, new approaches to the prevention, treatment, or management of cardiovascular risk in these patients are important. This low-cost, high-impact book is a vital information resource for clinical, public health, and basic science professionals. d2c66b5586
