Taylor Swift is the gift that keeps on giving. As well as releasing her surprise ninth studio album, Evermore, on Dec. 11, Swift also dropped the music video for "Willow," and it picks up right where the "Cardigan" music video ended. In the video (which is filled with Easter eggs, of course), Swift follows a magical gold thread into her piano and follows a love interest over several years until the two finally end up together in her cozy cabin. Swift's lover is played by Taeok Lee, and if he looks familiar to you, there's a good reason.
Fans can't stop talking about Taylor Swift's "Willow" music video because there are so many hidden easter eggs. The singer explained on Instagram that Evermore is a continuation of Folklore, so fans should have seen it coming, but they didn't expect there to be this many nods toward her previous album. These connections between Taylor Swift's "Willow" and Folklore will blow everyone's minds.
The music video was released on December 11, 2020. It's directed by Taylor Swift herself. The video is a continuation of the cardigan music video. It stars Taeok Lee, one of Taylor's backup dancers during the Red Tour.
UPDATE (12/17): Taylor Swift released the "Dancing Witch Version" of 'willow,' featuring 57 storyboard illustrations by Vincent Lucido from the official music video of the single.
"One of my favorite parts of directing music videos is the daydream/prep phase: writing up a treatment, a shot list, and working with an animator to storyboard it out ahead of time," Swift writes in a statement. "Thanks to illustrator Vincent Lucido, we can check off our shots as we go. A video showing the before and after of the willow video is out now."
Following in the visual footsteps of her music video for "cardigan" off her folklore album, which came out earlier this year, "Willow" sees Swift following a magical path through her piano and into a fantastical world of wonder.
Less than five months after the surprise release of her eighth studio album folklore, the "August" singer dropped yet another musical bombshell with folklore's companion album evermore. The first single off evermore, "willow," arrived with its very own music video, directed by Taylor herself. Check it out below.
Shortly after the video debuted, Taylor tweeted that she appreciates the bond she continues to enjoy with her fans. "I have no idea what will come next," she posted. "I have no idea about a lot of things these days and so I've clung to the one thing that keeps me connected to you all. That thing always has and always will be music."

Korean netizens are showing explosive interest, saying, "He looked super sexy in the music video, but he's so familiar now that I know his name is Taeok Lee," and "It's so nice to see a Korean performer in a Taylor Swift music video." 781b155fdc
